FORGET about Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gareth Bale, the Sunshine Coast Wanderers have a unearthed a contender for this year’s Puskas awards.

Midfielder Oliver Duncan shocked all at the weekend with a stunning bicycle kick that must be seen to be believed.

Duncan, a Noosa Lions junior, went aerial in the Wanderers 5-2 away win over Mackay Crusaders United with his back flipped strike coming in the 79th minute.

“I was dying to go to the toilet, and just heard this almighty, ‘Oh my god’,” Arnison said.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the replay. He tries these daft goals in training and doesn’t get them.

“But it can only be described as the goal of the season and people should be talking it up.”

Arnison also revealed it was Duncan’s first goal of the season, meaning he now avoids the dreaded nudie run.

Duncan played at Noosa Lions as a junior, before spending time at the Queensland Academy of Sport and playing for the Roar Youth.

He was also the captain of New Zealand’s under-17 team that were Oceania champions in 2017 and also played in the under-17 World Cup in India.

Wanderers dedicated their win to the late Nathan Weckert and his family following the 17-year-old’s death after a Bruce Highway tragedy.

Arnison said he addressed the players prior to kick off with an emotional message about who Nathan was and his love for the game.

“I think we would have done him proud,” Arnison said.

The result reaffirmed the Wanderers’ status inside the top four.
