Noosa Tigers head coach and club legend Adam Bovalino has announced he will be stepping down from his role at the end of the season.

Bovalino informed his playing group of his decision after their narrow 14 point loss to Wilston Grange in the QAFL competition on Saturday.

The dual premiership coach and captain said it’s the right time for him to step away from his senior role at the club.

“It definitely does take up a lot of time,” he said.

“I’ve spent three years at the helm and I’ve got a young family who are all pretty keen on their sport at the moment so it’s a good opportunity for me to put a bit more time into them and with my incredible wife Al.

“I’m definitely not done with coaching but it’s just a good time for me to take a step back.”

The father of three said the club will always hold a special place in his heart.

“This year the club named it’s teams of the decade so for me to be named in two of those, be captain of one of them and to attend the premiership reunions they’re the things that make you proud,” he said.

“It’s definitely something I look back on and smile and it’s great to know that you’ve made a contribution to the footy club.”

The Noosa Tigers currently sit in last place on the QAFL ladder after making the move into the competition this year.

Bovalino said it has been a year full of takeaways.

“It has been a massive jump in terms of competition and for us and that’s also come down to losing a lot of quality players from the years before,” he said.

“To the boys credit they always turn up and want to get better and improve as much as possible so they should be proud of the way they’ve gone about the season.”

Bovalino said he’s really enjoyed his time within the Coast AFL community.

“It’s cliche but footy isn’t all about winning premierships and being successful it’s about building relationships and that’s not only with the people I’ve meet from the Tigers but also the extended AFL community on the Coast.” he said.
