2025 QLD Schoolgirls Cup live stream: Caloundra SHS v Mountain Creek SHS

Sunshine Coast representative teammates will be pitted against each other on Thursday evening when Caloundra SHS take on Mountain Creek SHS in a Schoolgirls Cup first. Watch it LIVE.

A host of rising Sunshine Coast Falcons junior stars will be forced to exploit each other's weaknesses as Caloundra SHS play Mountain Creek SHS in a Queensland Schoolgirls first.

The two schools will embark on their maiden NRL Schoolgirls Cup campaign, in Pool B of the Queensland competition. Toowoomba’s The Glennie School was set to join them in Pool B, but has opted to focus on its quest for the Karyn Murphy Cup this season.

It means the two Sunshine Coast nurseries will go head-to-head ina three-match series to determine who moves on to the Queensland Schoolgirls Cup play-offs.

The series will open in a big way, with the first match played as a curtain raiser to the Under-19s State of Origin double header at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Thursday. It will be exclusively live streamed on KommunityTV.

Caloundra SHS head coach and Sunshine Coast Falcons BMD player Ella-J Harris, said she was eager to see what her side could produce.

“The girls are very excited and honoured to be playing in the curtain raiser to the State of Origin, and for their first round of the National Schoolgirls Cup,” she said.

“We have been preparing extremely well, and our squad is made of Falcon’s reps and local club players, but most of these girls have been in our school rugby league program since they started their secondary education.”

Falcons under-17 breakout stars Mackenzie Cassar and Ace Pollock both earnt BMD squad call-ups following their junior representative seasons and will look to lead the charge for their Caloundra teammates.

“Both girls will look to lead the team around but honestly I am excited to watch the whole team get out there,” Harris said.

“They have the chance to execute what we have been building and working for and every player has strengths that contribute to this side making it a resilient, committed and competitive team.”

Just 30 minutes up the road Mountain Creek SHS head coach Kate Challenor said her players are ready to fire.

“The girls are so excited and really pumped for it all,” she said.

“To play in a friendly rivalry game, at the stadium and before the under-19s origin is all really cool.”

Despite a few injuries Challenor said her side was full of rising talent.

“Most of our girls play club footy, some Falcons and some rugby union so it’s a good mix to have,” she said.

“Sophie Bachinger will be an exciting one to watch, she started with an Aussie rules background before switching to league so she’s got great spatial awareness and a good kicking game.

“Ari Blundell, Asha Holmstrom and Shaya Carfantan are three others who have all played some high level footy and will be key.”
