AFL Queensland’s largest schools competition is about to begin as more than 20 teams across 43 matches play for the right to call themselves the 2021 AFLQ School Cup champions.

The states best primary, junior and secondary school talent will descend on the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex to compete for the ultimate bragging rights from Friday to Sunday.

After some top string performances on day one the primary boys and primary girls teams will compete in their grand final matches on day two.
All games from field one and two at the Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex will be live streamed along with a post match summary.
Mooloolaba State School will hope to defend their 2020 premiership in the primary female division while a new comer in the primary boys division will be crowned after previous winners Eatons Hill State School bowed out of the competition.
9:00am Oval 2 - Primary Male 5th Place Playoff - St Thomas More defeats Belmont 75-2
The first game of the day began in perfect conditions as St Thomas More were able to play the majority of the opening term in their own half.
St Thomas More controlled the flow of the game and solid defensive efforts from Dempsey Finn, Caleb Green and Alfie Bovalino saw the boys in Red Head into the halftime break with a 5.5.30-0.1.1 lead.
The third quarter was much the same story as St Thomas More kicked away to a 51 point lead.
St Thomas More never looked like slowing down with both opposition coaches agreeing a solid man of the match performance from Will Caspers helped them to a commanding 10.15.75-0.2.2 victory.
9:30am Oval 2 - Primary Male 3rd Place Playoff - Whitfield def by Stella Maris 45-22
Stella Maris came out firing after yesterday‘s disappointing loss which saw them kicking two early goals.
Stella Maris’s Max Holden and Harry Ford weren't giving their opponents an inch on the defensive end, holding them to a 18-0 scoreline at the end of the first term.
Whitfield fought back late in the second quarter as the teams went into the halftime break 2.7.19-1.7.8.
Stella Maris were able to continue on by kicking the next three goals and not allowing Whitfield to have any serious control of the ball.
Whitfield hit back late but their minimal possession ultimately held them out of the final result.
An influential man of the match performance from Stella Maris’s Max Holden allowed them to finish the game with a 6.9.45-3.4.22 win and finish in third place.
10:15am Oval 1 - Primary Female 3rd to 5th Place Rotation - Hermit Park def by Toowoomba East 33-13
Toowoomba returned to day two in good form as they opened the scoring with an early goal from their influential forward line.
As they went into the halftime break leading 3.2.20-0.0.0 Toowoomba didn't look like slowing down.
Toowoomba’s Amelia Kidd, Payton Wilson and Dakota Chambers were all influential in their teams 5.3.33-2.1.13 performance.
11am Oval 1 - Primary Female 3rd to 5th Place Rotation - Hermit Park def by Marymount 41-2
Marymount were able to control possession of the footy to kick away early in the first half.
The teams went into the break with Marymount leading 3.2.20-0.2.2.
Marymount went on with the match as the final siren sounded to a 6.5.41-0.2.2 victory.
11am Oval 2 - Primary Female Grand Final - Mooloolaba SS def Holland Park 39-2
The first grand final of the carnival began with defending champions Mooloolaba taking on an in-form Holland Park outfit.
Mooloolaba opened the scoring and kicked another vital goal late in the first quarter to hold a 13 point lead.
Mooloolaba kept the pressure on in the second and third quarter as their lethal midfield provided a solid base for their scoring opportunities.
As they headed into the final term Mooloolaba held the scoreline of 4.2.25-0.1.1.
Mooloolaba proved too good for their opponents as they claimed back-to-back premierships in the primary female division.
Best on ground was awarded to Mooloolaba’s captain Millie Murray as the score finished 6.3.39-0.2.2.
11:30am Oval 1 - Primary Female 3rd to 5th Place Rotation - Toowoomba East def by Marymount 15-1.
Neither team could be separated early on with both teams kicking behinds early on.
Defences remained on top early before Marymount eventually broke the deadlock and kicked away late for 2.3.15-0.1.1 victory.
12:15pm Oval 2 - Primary Male Grand Final - Villanova def Marymount 49-27.
In the Primary male grand final Villanova got out to an early lead by kicking the opening goal of the game followed by 6 behinds.
Like they have all carnival Marymount hit back with two major scores and a behind of their before Villanova’s Hamish Ford put it through the sticks for the boys in green to retain the lead.
The score at the break was 2.6.18-2.1.13 in favour of Villanova.
Both teams came out with a point to prove in the second half as the intensity seemed to go up a notch.
Marymount’s Harlin Blackman was a magnet to the footy in the third term kicking two majors and giving his team the lead before Villanova replied late on in the term leaving a one point difference between the teams.
With the scores 3.8.26-4.3.27 as teams went into the final quarter, Villanova’s Miller Reinmuth snapped it through for a major score in the opening minutes of the final term.
Marymount struggled to get out of their own half in the fourth quarter as Villanova went on to kick the next three major scores and win the match.
Best on ground was awarded to Villanova’s Mitchell Vedelago as the match ended 6.13.49-4.3.27.
