SEVERE STORM WARNING: Damaging winds, large hail likely

The bureau of Meteorology has this afternoon issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the northern end of the Sunshine Coast.

THE BUREAU of Meteorology has this afternoon issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the northern end of the Sunshine Coast.

Noosa and Gympie council area residents have been warned to expect damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hailstones.

The heavy storms were due to hit Kin Kin just before 3pm and the storms were moving in a south-easterly direction.

Rainbow Beach was also expected to be affected by the storm cells.
