Seaview Terrace, Sunshine Beach build on final block given green light by Noosa Council staff
Plans for the last vacant block at Seaview Terrace, Sunshine Beach have been recommended for approval with a left-field idea to stop tradies blocking up the blue-chip street.

A home build on the final block of one of the most exclusive streets in the Noosa region is a step closer to reality after Noosa Council staff gave the green light to development plans.
The development application for 66 Seaview Terrace, Sunshine Beach, came before Noosa Council’s Planning and Environment meeting on July 12, 2022.
Councillors asked staff questions regarding site erosion, stormwater drainage, the impact on the street by tradespeople if the building was approved and more.
A left-field suggestion was also floated to tackle the issue of tradespeople in the elite street when construction eventually kicked off.
Agenda notes for the meeting stated the home would be built on a block that was mapped as a landslide hazard under the 2020 Noosa plan and was identified as an erosion prone area with a coastal building line by the state government.
“Accordingly, the application material included a geotechnical investigation and a coastal hazard assessment,” the agenda stated.
“This material has been reviewed by a consulting geotechnical engineer and a hydraulic engineer with conditions being developed to address the risks of constructing within an area subject to coastal erosion processes.”
Council staff have recommended the approval of the home, subject to conditions.
Councillor Tom Wegener asked about the number of tradespeople that would fill the street if the build went ahead.
Development planning manager Kerri Coyle said that a parking plan was needed.
“It will likely mean they will have to bus in their workers rather than have all the tradies park in the street,” she said.
The application will now go before the council’s general committee meeting on July 18, 2022.
In 2021, the block of land sold at auction through Tom Offermann Real Estate for a record-breaking $7.7m.
Gavin and Catherine Deane outbid international competition for the exclusive site and are the development applicants.
Brisbane-based Shaun Lockyer Architects have designed the home and plans for it were submitted to Noosa Council in December, 2021.
The architectural practice, which formed in 2009, has a focus on modernist architecture and has a desire to craft memorable, sustainable and efficient designs.
The street boasts a list of past and present celebrity homeowners including tennis champion Pat Rafter, Karl and Jasmine Stefanovic and Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein.
