Queen Noeline deserves a statue in her honour

If ever there was a more deserving person who needed to be fondly remembered it is her.

Letter to the editor

IT is with regret that I hear of Noeline Taurua leaving our beloved Sunshine Coast Lightning at season's end.

Regardless of this year's outcome, this wonderful unassuming woman has given us two championships and has done more for netball than you can imagine.

Every young girl on the Coast wants to play netball.

She has also put the Sunshine Coast on the map and encouraged many Kiwis to travel across the ditch to visit this fine region.

She also made this team accessible to the community and indeed made us feel that we partly owned this team.

If ever there was a more deserving person who needed to be fondly remembered it is her.

A perfect way for us to say thankyou would be to erect a statue of Noeline outside the Lightning's new home.

Come on Mr Mayor, how about you and a few of your councillor's junkets overseas be stopped and spend that money to say thanks?

To Kylee Byrne, congratulations.

You deserve this appointment and you will receive the backing of the whole community.

To Noeline, Kia Ora and thank you on a job well done.
