The son of former Broncos legend Kerrod Walters has broken the record for highest property sale price in Caloundra’s Shelly Beach just a year into his career.
Brooke Walters, 26, sold the lavish two-storey abode at 2a Banksia St more than $1m above the previous most expensive sale in the suburb.
The sprawling property includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a six car garage.
It last sold for $3.5m in 2015 and is believed to have recently gone for about $4.5m.
“The buyers who wanted to upgrade on the Coast are astute, so they knew exactly what they were after and this property ticked all the boxes,” Mr Walters said.
The sale comes as one of $15m worth of properties Mr Walters has sold as lead agent for Elite Lifestyle Properties after joining the company last year.
He also has another $20m worth of homes currently listed for sale including a Shelly Beach beachfront property and is expected to surpass his own record with selling it.
Kerrod Walters also works for the agency and has more than 10 years of experience as a real estate agent since retiring from professional rugby league.
His son Brooke Walters said he has set the bar high for himself while his father has given him advice along the way.
“When I took on this new challenge I set myself goals and while it’s great to have achieved a record sale for Shelly Beach early on, I couldn’t have really done it without the support I received from those around me, which has been tremendous,” Mr Walters said.
“He’s taught me that you don’t succeed if you don’t strive to hit your targets in what is a very competitive market. And it’s about doing it with a smile on your face – it’s about enjoying the experience.”
Minyama-based Elite Lifestyle Properties has seen an uptick in sales throughout the past few months after setting records across several suburbs including Birtinya, Minyama and Aroona.
Elite Lifestyle Properties owner Jordan Lund said the Sunshine Coasts' property market continues to see high demand among up-market clients.
“While there has been talk about the market being impacted because of interest rate rises and increasing cost of living expenses, the Sunshine Coast remains a favourite for prestige buyers,” Mr Lund said.
“There are still opportunities out there, you just have to be constantly monitoring the market and be ready to make the decision to purchase at short notice.”
