A luxury Sunshine Coast estate up for grabs for the first time in more than 15 years could become an A-lister’s private haven or potential wedding venue, according to the man overseeing the property’s sale.

The 12.1ha Laurelen Estate, on Negus Rd in Montville, boasts a main home, a guest cottage, caretaker’s residence and a large shed along with landscaped gardens and its own micro whiskey distillery.

Property Lane Realty principal William Emms said the estate had been on the market for a few weeks and had attracted a “crazy” amount of interest.

He said there was potential for the property to become a celebrity’s getaway home, a wedding venue or a health retreat.

“It really speaks to any of those celebrity-type buyers or anyone with a high net worth where they’re looking for an estate they can get away from the hustle and bustle,” Mr Emms said.

“It’s ultra private and minutes to Montville village.”

He said the main home was made up of four suites, each with a bedroom, a sitting room and an ensuite after an extensive renovation by the current owners who also turned an avocado packing shed into the guest cottage.

He said the layout was perfect for a wedding venue.

Fellow real estate agent Athena Law, who is co-listed on the sale, said the property owners were “long-term” Montville residents who moved down to Tasmania once their children left home.

“During their 16 years in residence at Laurelen they undertook substantial work to enlarge and improve the property, to reflect their love of creative parklike gardens and beautiful natural rainforest,” she said.

“Hard to imagine, but when the property was separated from the neighbouring land in 1980 it was grassland with no trees.”

The main home’s improvements were done with focus on using materials and craftspeople from the area and the front door was commissioned from woodworker Jack Wilms, who created the doors of the Montville chapel and other artwork at Secrets on the Lake.

“For the creation, he was asked to provide his own interpretation of local nature and small wildlife,” Ms Law said.

The real estate agent said the owners designed the property as a multi-generational or extended family home or as a “quality” bed and breakfast or small events venue.

The house is being sold via an expression of interest campaign and Mr Emms declined to put a dollar figure on the value of the property.
