Three more teenagers have been charged after a group of 10 stormed a Mooloolaba burger shop in an alleged attempted robbery on Saturday, August 12.

Police confirmed on Friday that three 15-year-olds, two boys from Palmview and Sippy Downs and a Buderim girl, were charged in relation to the incident and being dealt with under the youth justice act.

A 14-year-old Sippy Downs boy was charged earlier in the week.

Three people were rushed to hospital including a 71-year-old man after the incident at River Esplanade on Saturday, August 12.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses.

It will be alleged around 6.30pm a group of about 10 teenagers entered the establishment and stole drinks from a fridge.

Two shop assistants, a 23-year-old Maroochydore man and a 27-year-old Maroochydore man, tried to intervene and were allegedly pushed to the ground and assaulted by the group.

A 71-year-old Golden Beach man was also allegedly assaulted when he tried to help.

All three were taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The group left the store on foot heading towards Hancock Street.

Detectives from the Sunshine Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Phil Hirst said the assault on the two workers was very serious as investigations continue into the group’s other activities on Saturday.

“They have attempted to steal drinks from the store and they have been spoken to by the workers of that store and that is where the assault initiated and it was quite a vicious assault on those persons,” Mr Hirst said.

Mr Hirst said the 14-year-old charged over the incident was known to police as they continued to search for the others involved.

Mr Hirst urged any possible witnesses to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
