A Little Mountain tradie told police the reason he pestered three women at the Caloundra Music Festival before resisting arrest was because they picked up a french bulldog.

Police prosecutor Amanda Brewer said Wesley Paul Brett was intoxicated when he approached the women at Kings Beach on October 1.

Sergeant Brewer told Caloundra Magistrates Court a security guard flagged police down about 8.40pm after spotting the 40-year-old trying to talk to the women on Burgess St, despite them telling him to leave them alone.

Police witnessed Brett continue to pester the women even when they asked him to “stop following them”.

Sergeant Brewer said the 40-year-old man then grabbed one of the young women by the arm on the stairs of the Kings Beach Tavern.

Officers swooped and arrested an intoxicated Brett, who violently resisted arrest, saying he would “kill the police” and “take 10 of them on at once”.

Duty lawyer Liesel Rogan told the court an argument between her client and the women was sparked when one of them picked up a french bulldog. It was not made clear to the court whether Brett was the owner of the dog.

Ms Rogan said the Little Mountain tradie spent a night in the watch house and had suffered a black eye and other injuries from the arrest.

Brett pleaded guilty to public nuisance and obstructing police,

He was fined $850 and no conviction was recorded.
