A 71-year-old woman stared straight ahead and showed “no remorse” as she was found guilty of unlawfully stalking her Noosaville neighbours for 11 years.

Vivienne Mary Glover pleaded not guilty in Maroochydore District Court to two counts of stalking the victim couple between November 30, 2008 and February 28, 2019.

A jury heard over the course of the eight-day trial in the Maroochydore District Court how Glover kept detailed surveillance notes on the couple.

She made fantastical accusations that the pair were involved in criminal conduct such as drug trafficking and rape during what was described as never-ending intimidation and harassment that “petrified” the couple.

The court heard from several witnesses and victims who revealed that Glover took several photos and recordings of the couple going about their daily lives.

Glover had also made threats to “burn their house down” and the male victim said Glover pointed a knife two to three feet away from his throat.

Glover’s barrister Simone Bain and crown prosecutor Alex Stark summarised their cases to the jury on Wednesday.

Ms Bain asked the jury to consider if the male victim could be taking his chance for retribution against a woman he despised.

“This court case for him was an opportunity to play up to a captive audience, he was convinced that you would finally swallow everything he had to say,” she said.

“Do you believe the man who … hid his face in his arms when he pretended to cry when he recounted the fact that Vivienne Glover had alleged he raped his wife?…”

Ms Bain said recordings made by Glover showed the victim asking if she wanted him to dance or smile for the camera and saying she must have had a crush on him.

Ms Bain said the male victim also held up garden poison and said to Glover “don’t worry it’s not for you, it’s just poison”.

“He is not terrified, he is not intimated, he is stirring,” Ms Bain said.

Ms Bain said the crown had painted a one-sided picture that described Glover as a “super villain” and benefited the victim who also had 700 journal logs about Glover.

“ … That somehow makes (the victim) keeping notes not a stalker, not pervert, but an elderly gentleman who is forced to take a journal,” she said.

While finishing his case before the jury, crown prosecutor Alex Stark said Glover’s accusations of rape and drug crimes went beyond a neighbourhood dispute.

“It was a war against an enemy she saw as not human … a sexual predator who would uncontrollably pounce on unsuspecting women or children the Jack the Ripper of Noosa,” he said.

Mr Stark told the jury Glover said it wasn’t a neighbourhood dispute in her interview with police and in a letter to the Police Minister.

Mr Stark said the jury had overwhelming evidence to find Glover guilty of stalking.

He said Glover had several calendars from between 2009 and 2019 with detailed notes of surveillance, photos and videos of the victims and a volume of letters she wrote or sent to federal police, the member of parliament and the Minister of Police.

The court heard the evidence given by the victims proved the stalking ruined their peace on their own property and caused them great stress with the male victim suffering nightmares, a heart attack and high blood pressure.

The court heard Glover told police she hoped her actions caused the victim “angst”.

Judge Jennifer Rosengren said in her sentencing remarks that even after being found guilty, Glover still showed “no remorse” or regret for her “deeply offensive” conduct.

“Your actions were of a scandalous and destructive kind, you have obscenely and offensively intruded into the lives of your neighbours,” Ms Rosengren said.

She sentenced Glover to three years imprisonment, to be release on parole on February 17, 2023.

Glover was also handed a 10 year restraining order to keep her distance from the victims.
