Two witnesses to the aftermath of a brutal and bloody alleged attack on a 15-year-old boy at Noosa on New Year’s Eve have relived the moment they came across the confronting scene.

Police arrested and charged a 16-year-old Camira boy and a 17-year-old Highgate Hill boy with grievous bodily harm over allegations they slashed a 15-year-old Victorian boy with a broken glass bottle at Noosa Main Beach on New Year’s Eve.

Police alleged the two teenagers approached the 15-year-old boy at 10.40pm and an altercation broke out, where it is believed a broken glass bottle was used to strike at him.

The two older boys allegedly fled the scene after the attack and were found by police at a nearby boardwalk a short time later.

But the aftermath of the attack was a confronting scene for many, including two people leaving Hastings St.

One woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said police were combing the area and taking photographs.

“I (asked the police) ‘what are you looking for?’ and the cop said ‘kid just lost half of his face, we’re looking for the weapon’,” she said.

“I was horrified.”

Noosa father Adam (surname withheld) said the incident happened 100 metres from the Noosa Surf Club, and he was “in shock” after coming across the bloody scene.

“I saw two separate pools of blood on two separate stool seats,” he said.

He said he had spoken to parents with children around the same age as those involved in the alleged attack, who said they no longer go out at night and “don’t feel safe” in the area anymore.

Police arrested and charged two teenagers, a 17-year-old from Highgate Hill in Brisbane’s inner south, and a 16-year-old from Camira in Ipswich.

Both Adam and the anonymous onlooker agreed public events such as New Years’ celebrations needed more security, after huge crowds flooded Noosa Main beach on Saturday night.

“There were thousands and thousands of people,” the woman said.

“The police did the best efforts they could, but it needs to come back to the council to supply a bit more security overall. It just wasn’t contained.”

The 17-year-old Highgate Hill boy was denied police bail and will appear in the Maroochydore Children’s Court, while the 16-year-old will appear at a later date.

The 15-year-old Victorian boy was taken to hospital in a stable condition with facial injuries.
