A man in his 30s has been rushed to hospital and a juvenile is understood to be assisting detectives with their investigation after a broad daylight attack at a major Sunshine Coast shopping centre.
The man was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital by critical care paramedics just after 5pm on Sunday, February 5, after reports of a serious assault at the Sunshine Plaza.
It was understood the man was unconscious and in a serious condition when he was taken to hospital under lights and sirens after emergency services were called to a disturbance at the popular shopping centre about 4.40pm.
He remained in a serious condition on Sunday night.
Local police have confirmed one juvenile is assisting detectives with their investigation and a crime scene remains in place.
It’s understood the attack took place in an outdoor precinct of the Sunshine Plaza, between McDonald’s and TGI Fridays.

Emergency services were called to reports of a disturbance and police said there had been some initial reports of a person in possession of a knife.
But Queensland Ambulance Service media officers said the man in his 30s did not appear to have been stabbed and had suffered facial and head injuries.
Police were investigating whether robbery had been a motive for the attack.
