The mother of missing Gold Coast man Edan Huntington has expressed her worry over her son’s disappearance, as the one month anniversary of the last time he was seen approaches.
Mr Huntington, of Mermaid Waters, was last seen driving away from a Montville holiday home about 5am on January 18, but has not been seen or heard from since.
He was holidaying with his father at the time.
Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast police launched a joint investigation into his disappearance. A fresh appeal for information was then shared on February 15.
Saturday, February 18 will mark one month since Mr Huntington was last seen, but his mother Delia Harpur refuses to give up on her son.
Ms Harpur, who lives in Lismore in northern New South Wales, launched a GoFundMe on February 12 asking for financial assistance for an independent search for Mr Huntington.
This was alongside a joint investigation between Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast police, who have scoured the Montville and Palmwoods areas for any sign of his whereabouts or car.
“We hope so much to see his face again and will not stop until we find him,” she wrote online.
Ms Harpur said she feels continually worse about her son’s disappearance as time goes on,.
Lismore police had joined the search effort at the direction of Gold Coast police and have set up a base of operations in the area should Mr Huntington be found in New South Wales, she said.
Ms Harpur said her son was “reserved” but “loyal” and had a lot of friends.
“He was really admired by a lot of people,” she said.
“He was very generous.”
She said he was skilled in IT and was a savvy bitcoin investor.
She previously told the Sunshine Coast Daily her son had called an ambulance on the morning he vanished, but by the time paramedics arrived and his father had woken up, he was gone.
Sunshine Coast District Sergeant Peter Hocken said during a press conference on February 16 police held “grave concerns” for the 28-year-old.
He was “distressed” over medical issues the morning he disappeared, Sergeant Hocken said.
“He was trying to come to terms with that issue at the time,” he said.
Initial investigations found Mr Huntington’s last known movements were in Palmwoods, however no new information had come to light since.
Police were now scouring Palmwoods and Montville, Sergeant Hocken said, while also searching for Mr Huntington’s car – a dark grey Ford Territory with NSW number plates CQG59F.
He “implored” anyone from the Montville and Palmwoods areas with dashcam footage from the morning of Mr Huntington’s disappearance to come forward.
Investigations are ongoing.
