Mark Richard Goodman, Brett John Holden charged with dangerous operation

Two Sunshine Coast motorcyclists who allegedly filmed themselves reaching speeds of up to 192km/h throughout the hinterland before posting it online have faced court.

Two men who police allege filmed themselves riding motorcycles while speeding throughout the Sunshine Coast hinterland and posting it online have faced court for the first time.

Mark Richard Goodman of Parrearra, 45, and Brett John Holden of Birtinya, 46, were charged by police after they allegedly filmed themselves driving dangerously and speeding in Peachester and Cedarton on July 8, 2022.

Footage which emerged on social media depicted a rider travelling in excess of 140km/h while overtaking vehicles and at one point reaching 192km/h, climbing up into the hinterland towards Kilcoy Beerwah Road.

The road winds in various locations and was also being used by several other vehicles at the time the footage shows.

The rider was then seen riding through Bellthorpe allegedly crossing the double lines of a narrow road more than 22 times.

The footage was referred to Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol, who on July 28, 2022 searched a Parrearra home and seized a GoPro.

Mr Goodman was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle while Mr Holden was charged with interfering with operation of vehicle dangerously – excessively speeding.

Both men appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday August 22, 2022, represented by barrister Kelvin Pearson and had their matters adjourned to September 12, 2022.

Ongoing investigations also led to a 49-year-old Mooloolaba man being issued with two fines for high speed and failing for fail to attach registration plate, totalling $2113 and eight demerit points.
