Man punched in mouth in pub smoking area

Police have released CCTV footage after a 52-year-old man was punched in the mouth while in the smoking area of a Sunshine Coast pub.

Police have released CCTV footage after a 52-year-old man was punched in the mouth while in the smoking area of a Sunshine Coast pub.

Maroochydore police Sergeant Brad Cuthbert said the victim was with friends at the Duporth Tavern about 8.15pm on November 3.

Sgt Cuthbert said a man said something to the victim's female friends to which the victim reacted.

"The victim has told old mate to pull his head in and the offender has punched him in the mouth," Sgt Cuthbert alleged.

He said the man walked away and left the pub.

The victim had damage to his teeth.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man who could help them in their investigation.

He is described as caucasian, about 180cm tall, average build, with short greying hair.

The man was dressed in a dark blue polo shirt, light blue shorts and dark shoes.

Anyone who recognises this man is asked to call police.
