A security guard was allegedly kicked and injured by an armed man during an attempted robbery of a Nambour bottleshop in broad daylight.

Police were called to the Cellarbrations Bottle Shop on Mill Lane, Nambour on Wednesday, October 13 about 2.30pm.

Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Craig Mansfield said the 30-year-old man allegedly stole bottles of liquor from the store.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mansfield said a nearby security guard chased the man into an underground carpark.

Sergeant Mansfield said the accused allegedly produced an “edged” weapon and threatened the 60-year-old security guard.

He said the man ran off and was chased by the security guard into Quota Park, Nambour.

Sergeant Mansfield said the man allegedly rushed at the security guard who injured his leg and fell to the ground.

Police will allege the man then kicked the security several times before removing his body-worn camera and throwing it away.

Sergeant Mansfield said the alleged offender was chased off by members of the public who came to the security guard’s aide.

Sergeant Mansfield said the man was later found by police and arrested.

Sergeant Mansfield praised members of the public who helped direct the security guard towards the man, which assisted police with the eventual arrest.

The accused, a Nambour local, was due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court charged with armed robbery and robbery with personal violence offences on Thursday.

More to come.
