Grieving families are still waiting to hear the court-ordered punishment for a driver charged with the deaths of two young men, with the sentencing date suddenly pushed back.
Kelly Renee Liddicoat, 44, struck and killed bus mechanics Aaron Pitt, 25, and Lleyton Bartlett, 22, while the duo repaired a broken down bus along Nambour Connection Rd at Woombye on April 21, 2022.
The Warana woman was found guilty of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance after a two-week trial in the Maroochydore District Court on October 18.
Following the guilty verdict, she was remanded in custody and her matter was listed for sentence on December 11.
But it did not go ahead and was instead relisted for April 15, 2024.
Aaron’s father Rob Pitt said it was “very frustrating” the sentence date had been moved, which made life more difficult for the families in the lead up to Christmas.
The sentence is scheduled to almost one week before the two-year anniversary of the crash, which Mr Pitt said only made the process more difficult for the grieving families.
“(This) isn’t something we can easily move on from. The trial was horrific ... we’re still struggling with it all,” he said.
An application for an appeal against conviction for Liddicoat was lodged on November 15 but is yet to be determined.
Liddicoat remains in custody.
