A 24-year-old Nambour man who allegedly evaded police by reaching speeds over 110km/h has made a push for his freedom on 14 criminal charges.

Jessie Jordan Dale appeared via video link from the watch house while he applied for bail in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police prosecutor Mick Ruddiman objected to Mr Dale’s bail application, citing the five breaches of bail the 24-year-old had racked up.

Court documents allege the most serious occurred about 12.50am on January 16 in Coolum Beach where Mr Dale evaded police.

Police allege after the 24-year-old and another man were spotted by officers at the 7-Eleven on South Coolum Rd they sped out of the business.

Court documents state police activated their lights to stop the vehicle while Mr Dale allegedly reached speeds of up to 110km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Police stopped their intercept as they allege Mr Dale was driving on the wrong side of the road in poorly lit areas.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard Mr Dale would be contesting the traffic charges saying he wasn’t driving the vehicle at the time and was merely a passenger.

Sergeant Ruddiman said Mr Dale then failed to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on January 12.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to that charge and was fined $350 with a conviction recorded, which activated a three-month suspended sentence but was given immediate parole.

Magistrate Barry Barrett refused Mr Dale’s bail application due to him being an unacceptable risk and adjourned the matter to February 28.

Mr Dale will face five counts of breaching bail, two of driving without a licence and one of evasion, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and not giving way to vehicle when entering a roundabout.

The 24-year-old also faces charges of stealing, driving unregistered and using a vehicle for which a number plate is cancelled, lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged.
