A Mountain Creek mechanic was found with cocaine and shotgun shells after Nambour detectives discovered an $8000 stolen motorcycle at his mum’s place.

Grady James Bernard Connors was not at his home about 12.30pm on May 19, 2022 when police executed a search warrant at a Mountain Creek home and found a stolen motorbike.

Detectives saw the motorbike had been painted black over its original colour from when it was stolen.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard on Friday, August 5, 2022, that police searched the house and found clip seal bags, straws, shotgun rounds and nunchucks belonging to Connors.

Police prosecutor Michael Quirk said Connors was arrested at a home in Buderim where he was found with a small amount of cocaine along with a knife and phone suspected of being used in the connection of a drug offence.

Mr Quirk told the court the owner of the motorcycle was asking for $3000 in damages as the vehicle was valued at $8000 but sold for $5000 after its return.

Defence lawyer Farah Haddad said the 27-year-old had bought a car from a friend which had the shotgun shells inside and he regretted not handing them into police as she explained Connors used the knife for work.

Mr Haddad said Connors had been hanging out with a “different crowd” but was now on the right path.

Connors pleaded guilty to seven charges including possessing drugs, receiving tainted property and unlawful possession of a weapon and was sentenced to six months’ probation.

He was ordered to pay $3000 compensation for the motorcycle.

No conviction was recorded.
