A young Tewantin man who was allegedly tracked by a police dog after evading cops on a motorbike is accused of telling an officer he would have his family killed.

Corey Michael Jessop-Warnes applied for bail in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, July 25, 2022 after racking up several charges days after he was released on bail for other alleged offences.

Court documents allege Mr Jessop-Warnes, 23, was spotted driving disqualified at Fairway Dr, Noosa Heads, about 7.55pm on Saturday, July 23 2022.

Police activated their lights to intercept the Tewantin man but he allegedly evaded them before dumping his motorbike and running through the back of a property.

It’s alleged by police that Mr Jessop-Warnes was tracked by a police dog and arrested.

Police allege in court documents Mr Jessop-Warnes threatened to “kill a police officer and his family” saying he knew where the officer lived and would “have his family shot”.

Police prosecutor Phil Stephens said Mr Jessop-Warnes gave detailed information of people he knew who would be able to carry out the alleged threats.

“There’s also a suggestion he would do anything to avoid that capture by police,” Sergeant Stephens said.

The court heard Mr Jessop-Warnes had been given bail on July 18, 2022, five days before he was arrested on fresh charges.

Defence lawyer Rod Morgan said the young Tewantin dad-of-two was an op shop volunteer and would adhere to strict bail conditions.

Magistrate Graham Hillan disagreed and refused Mr Jessop-Warnes’ bail.

His matters were adjourned to September 16, 2022, where he faces 18 charges including three counts of evasion, three of driving disqualified and threats.
