Burnside man Luke Gourlay missing: SES, police search Palmview for clues

Detectives are ramping up a search for any clue of the whereabouts of a Sunshine Coast man who has been missing since Christmas – saying they are “seriously concerned” for his welfare.

Detectives are ramping up their search for a Sunshine Coast man who has been missing for more than a month.

Burnside man Luke Gourlay, 29, has been missing since two days before Christmas last year.

He was last seen walking on the Steve Irwin Way in Landsborough about 4pm on December 26 last year.

Prior to that he was spotted on December 23, December 23 at a Perwillowen Road property at approximately 9am.

Nambour detectives are now co-ordinating a search effort for Mr Gourlay in the Palmview area.

Nambour Acting Detective Sergeant Chris Lawson said about 20 SES volunteers had searched the area near Steve Irwin Way yesterday, February 5, for any sign of the missing man.

He said another group of SES volunteers would also search today, February 6, and there were plans to expand the search area further.

“We will be eventually using the assistance of motorbikes and mounted police too,” Sgt Lawson said.

Police and family continue to hold “serious concerns” for Mr Gourlay’s welfare as his disappearance is out of character and he has a medical condition.

He is fair-skinned, about 180cm with a slim build, brown hair and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, grey shorts, orange shoes and a blue hat.

Police believe Luke was travelling in a white van, with Queensland registration 929CS3, prior to his disappearance.

The van was located abandoned along Cribb Street in Landsborough on December 31.

The detective said anyone with information should come forward via Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
