A young motorbike rider who suffered critical injuries after a crash with a car in Buderim is now stable, a hospital spokesperson has confirmed.
The 20-year-old Buderim man was rushed to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with a head injury after his bike collided with a Kia Sorrento at the intersection of Wises Rd and Bluebush Ave in around 7.40am on Friday, August 18.
It comes after police confirmed the driver involved in the crash was dropping children at a bus stop when the crash occurred.
A 50-year-old Buderim woman declined transport to hospital.
Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit police confirmed on Monday that the 50-year-old woman, who was driving the Kia Sorrento, was driving to drop children at a bus stop when the crash occurred.
Initial investigations showed car and motorbike collided when the Kia Sorrento turned right into Bluebush Ave, they said.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said both cars were heading east along Wises Rd at the time of the crash.
Investigations are ongoing.
