Imperial Hotel Eumundi Pty Ltd taken over by Robert, Paul and David Comiskey

The hospitality giants behind Sandstone Point Hotel have quietly snapped up an iconic 112-year-old Sunshine Coast hinterland pub after it was on the market for almost a year.

An iconic Sunshine Coast hinterland pub has changed hands after it was snapped up by a Queensland hospitality giant.

The team behind Sandstone Point Hotel and the newly opened The Doonan at Noosa hinterland have quietly taken over at The Imperial Hotel in Eumundi.

The 112-year-old pub at Memorial Dr was listed for sale by expressions of interest on August 17, 2022.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission documents show Comiskey Group Pty Ltd director Robert Comiskey, along with Paul and David Comiskey took over as directors of Eumundi Imperial Hotel Pty Ltd as of August 3.

The Comiskey Group is listed as the new directors of the Imperial Hotel, Eumundi.

The group is behind popular venues including the Sandstone Point and Eatons Hill hotels.

Robert Comiskey politely declined to comment on the sale. It is understood it is yet to settle.

Property records state the hotel – which opened in 1911 – previously sold in 2012 for $2.25m to Moonshine Lager Pty Ltd.

Today it is home to the Eumundi Brewers and Eumundi Distillery, where patrons can find live acoustic music in the beer garden all weekend and ticketed shows in entertainment spaces.

About 100 metres down the road Joe’s Waterhole is also undergoing changes with the development of a Matso’s brewery behind the front bar, following the pub’s sale to Good Drinks Australia for $5.3m in 2021.

The Comiskey Group’s takeover at Eumundi is the latest in a wave of other projects on the Sunshine Coast, following the opening of the highly-anticipated The Doonan on March 2, 2023.

Other Sunshine Coast projects in the pipeline for the group include the Aura Hotel at the Stockland Aura community and festival grounds Coochin Fields at Coochin Creek.
