Boyd Sealby steals rental trailer, drives disqualified

A 32-year-old Tewantin man and his mate have levelled the disappearance of a rental trailer against each other in a bizarre theft similar to Dude, Where’s My Car.

Brutal Noosa fight caught on camera

A 32-year-old Tewantin carpenter and his mate have blamed the theft of a hire trailer on each other in a comical parallel to the movie ‘Dude, Where’s My Car?’.

Boyd Sealby racked up four charges following the disappearance of a rental trailer from Move Yourself Trailer Hire in Caboolture South on November 1 2021.

Police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said the 32-year-old had rented the trailer worth more than $1000 from the business on the promise to return it.

Noosa Magistrates Court was told on Tuesday that the business called police on November 17, 2021 after the trailer had failed to return.

Sergeant Nitschke said Sealby was then pulled over by police on December 18, 2021 along Eumundi Noosa Rd in Doonan for driving disqualified, unregistered and uninsured.

Duty lawyer Bernard Bradley told the court Sealby had no idea where the rental trailer was and said the 32-year-old’s friend, referred to as “old mate”, had taken the trailer.

Mr Bradley said Sealby “stupidly” hired the trailer in his name for “old mate”.

Sergeant Nitschke replied in court that police had spoken to “old mate” who levelled the disappearance of the trailer at Sealby.

Sealby pleaded guilty to driving disqualified, uninsured and unregistered and was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for two years.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing and copped an $800 fine.

Convictions were recorded.
