A Mountain Creek mum has blamed being in a stolen car and busted with pilfered tools on a violent criminal she knew for less than a week.
Alarna Jane Fraser, 34, wiped tears from her eyes as she narrowly avoided serving time behind bars over the offending.
Caloundra Magistrates Court was told police raided the 34-year-old’s home on March 20 and located the stolen property.
Fraser was then spotted in the passenger seat of a stolen Jeep at the Pelican Waters Resort on March 23.
The court was told Fraser was no stranger to the courtroom and had previously received actual imprisonment.
Defence lawyer Patrick Meehan said Fraser’s recent crimes were due to her involvement with a “serious and violent offender” she had known for just days.
“She realised this man was not who she thought he was,” Mr Meehan said.
Mr Meehan said his client now planned to move away to work in the Mt Isa mines so she could be closer to her son.
Fraser pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property and possessing drugs.
She was sentenced to six months’ jail, which was suspended for 12 months.
