Proud parents celebrated a special milestone as they bid their children goodbye on the first day of prep at Sunshine Coast schools.
Preppies put on brave smiles and looked to make new friends as they hovered outside their classroom, ready for the first lesson of the day.
A Queensland Police statement read Sunshine Coast officers would be increasing patrols this week to ensure students’ safe return to school.
Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol Officer in Charge Acting Senior Sergeant Nathan Richards said speed limits are “strongly enforced.”
“The return to school also means many more people on the roads during busy school drop off and pick up times including parents and kids walking or riding to school,” he said.
“Please keep an eye out for pedestrians and be extra cautious around them.”
He urged motorists to slow down, pay attention and drive with caution and patience as school zones can be “unpredictable” with many pedestrians and cars on the go.
