A hiker in his 50s was winched to safety by the Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew on Saturday after falling while bushwalking in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
The LifeFlight rescue helicopter was called to the scene about 2.30pm after the man slipped and fell into a rocky crevice.
Another member of the hiking group activated an emergency beacon locator, allowing the helicopter crew to quickly pinpoint the location of the injured hiker.
The LifeFlight team lowered a Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic and a LifeFlight rescue crew member to the man, who had suffered upper leg injuries.
After receiving treatment, the hiker was stabilised, placed in a rescue harness, and winched into the helicopter.
He was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
