A new pet pampering resort complete with its own water park and commando course offering retreats for dogs and cats has opened in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Pet Resorts Australia Eumundi-Noosa claims it spared no costs in creation of the new facility, in response to growing demand for “human style” doggie daycare which has skyrocketed since pandemic restrictions lifted.
Destination suites at the new facility start from $101 a day and the basic daycare service will set owners back $49 a day.
Pet Resorts Australia chief operating officer Blake De Bruin said owners “easily” spent a few hundred dollars a week on their pets’ stays.
He said the water park had been inspired by a need to deliver something unique to their brand.
Pets Resort Australia stated the animal care industry was estimated to be worth $33bn annually across the nation with almost 30 million pets residing in Australia.
The upgraded facilities, formerly known as Eumundi Pet Resort, feature a colourful splash park, custom commando course, one-on-one professional dog training and luxurious “destination suites.”
Television screens, airconditioning and “pet nannies” are inside the facilities to replicate the feeling of home for their canine customers while providing a safe environment for pets to socialise.
Mr De Bruin said pets were feeling lots of anxiety as owners returned to work after spending all their time together during Covid-19 lockdowns.
“Now more than ever, Australians are willing to spend the money on quality accommodation and enriching entertainment for their four-legged friends if it means having peace of mind that their pets are cared for as they would be at home.
“We really just wanted to take it to the next level.”
Take a look inside:
Mr De Bruin said the idea of the splash park was “groundbreaking” - all types of dogs can play and dart through the water in a risk-safe environment unlike swimming pools.
The splash park became “something fun, unique and never been done before,” Mr De Bruin said.
Future plans included rolling out “royal suites” for pampered guests.
