A $250m Caloundra development featuring 84 residences and a new hotel is already turning heads months before the first sod is turned.

The developers of Paloma Paloma on the corner of Bulcock St and Knox Ave in Caloundra are planning to redefine the Sunshine Coast with the state-of-the-art project.

Situated near the top of Bulcock St, the block neighbours the Caloundra Department of Transport and Main Roads and is opposite the Caloundra Hotel.

Expressions of interest have now opened for the 84 residences available with more details about the hotel project expected to be released in 2022.

Decibel Architecture’s conductor Dylan Brady said the residences would consist of a selection of individually crafted sky homes with personal balcony pools, and brilliant 2, 3 and 4 bedroom dwellings.

“Paloma Paloma is the best residential and lifestyle offering on the market — the pinnacle of brilliant international design, exceptionally curated experiences and the best in Australian hospitality,” Mr Brady said.

“Alongside the development team and delivery experts, we have brought a fresh and generous perspective to the Caloundra identity, creating a brilliant and intriguing energy, and shaping this place’s future as a new benchmark of excellence.”

While design plans are still mostly under wraps, Mr Brady said Paloma Paloma will reflect the natural beauties of Caloundra.

“The architecture is inspired by the rocky headlands of Caloundra, the rock pool marbled tidal ledges and the weathered curvature of sand and sea worn stones and dunes,” Mr Brady said.

“Working within the permitted envelope we have carefully reimagined the design, connecting the site to the street and delivering a totally unexpected lifestyle, hotel, residential and hospitality experience.”

“This project is different, totally unexpected and refreshingly exceptional.”

While work won’t begin until mid-2022, the project is already taking shape with developers painting existing buildings in a bright Pink colour as part of an ongoing art installation.

The development site will be home to a series of playful community events, celebrations, art house shows and unexpected experiences over the coming months.

The project follows a line of other developments slated for the southern end of the Coast, including a new 81 apartment block in Bokarina.
The precinct is one of six different development sites that will eventually all come together to create Zinc Bokarina.
