A mother has revealed the horrifying moment she saw her 11-year-old daughter land on her face after falling several metres from a Sunshine Coast walking track.

Kelly Turnbull said she thought her daughter Cheyanne was dead after seeing her limp body after a 4m fall along a Mt Ngungun track on October 29.

The Boondall girl suffered severe face, head and arm injuries and was knocked unconscious when her head hit the ground.

Mrs Turnbull said her family had traversed Mt Ngungun in the Glass House Mountains before, and undertook this particular trip occurring on a clear day with her friend and two daughters.

“We were on our way down and I could see Cheyanne had started to run on the way down and I was yelling and screaming out to her to stop,” she said.

“She then lost all of her footing and fell straight on her face … I saw her at the bottom face down and thought, ‘Oh my god, she’s dead’.”

When she arrived to Cheyanne, concerned bystanders rushed to help, with one woman giving a foil blanket for the injured girl and another keeping Mrs Turnbull’s second daughter company, while a man brought up a makeshift pillow and umbrella.

Mrs Turnbull said she couldn’t believe the amount of blood on the ground as her daughter lie unconscious.

Paramedics rushed to the track along with fire crews to help Cheyanne to a LifeFlight helicopter, which flew her to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

She was now recovering at home and miraculously escaped without a single broken bone, but did suffer a serious cut to her arm, concussion, lacerations and damaged teeth.

Cheyanne’s mum said her daughter was the “strongest and bravest little girl” and said she was so proud of how she handled the situation.

“It’s been an emotional rollercoaster but she is back in the best spirits again, cracking her jokes here and there,” Mrs Turnbull said.

“She’s a strong little girl. She honestly had the best outcome in the worst situation.”

Mrs Turnbull said her daughter wanted to go back to complete the Mt Ngungun track, but on the condition her mum could wrap her up in padded material and hold her very tight.
