A man in his mid-70s has been rushed to hospital after being dragged unconscious from the water at Maroochydore Beach.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man had reportedly been pulled from the water unconscious about 12.30pm Saturday, October 14.

The spokeswoman said it was understood CPR had not been required and lifeguards were on scene assisting when paramedics arrived.

He was being taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
