Man, woman charged after police chase in Sippy Downs

The Nissan allegedly hit an unmarked police car before leading cops on a terrifying chase through a major Sunshine Coast suburb.

Two people have been charged after they allegedly led police on a terrifying chase through a major Sunshine Coast suburb.

Police will allege two people attempted to flee from police on Sippy Downs Dr after they were found in possession of dangerous drugs.

They will allege officers tried to stop a Nissan Elgrand at a business about 11.40am, but the car tried to escape and hit an unmarked police car.

The Nissan continued for a short distance along the road before the male and female left the vehicle on foot.

Police then took them into custody.

The occupants of the damaged police vehicle were not physically injured.

Residents who witnessed the chase said the cars had raced through a KFC drive-through.

A 25-year-old Nambour man has been charged with two counts each of failure to appear in accordance with undertaking and possession of dangerous drugs.

He has also been charged with failure to comply with a requirement to stop, endangering police when driving motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, possession of anything used in the commission of a crime, failure to store small arms ammunition and possession of utensils.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 9.

A 45-year-old Maroochydore woman has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possessing restricted items, failure to provide specimen of breath and possession of utensils.

She is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 12.
