Man stable after alleged Kings Beach Tavern attack

Court documents reveal witnesses were the first to render first aid to an unconscious man outside Kings Beach Tavern who was the victim of an alleged brutal attack.

New details in an alleged brutal attack outside a Kings Beach pub, which left a man in a critical condition, have emerged as the hospital provides an update on the alleged victim.

Witnesses saw a man bleeding from the lip after an alleged one-punch attack outside Kings Beach Tavern, it can be revealed.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious head injuries on March 19 after he was allegedly assaulted outside the popular tavern about 7.30pm.

A Sunshine Coast University spokeswoman said he was then flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.

A spokeswoman for the Brisbane hospital confirmed as of Friday, March 24 he was in a stable condition.

Mooloolah Valley man Matthew Alan Warner, 32, was charged with grievous bodily harm and drug possession following the alleged attack.

He was granted bail in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 21 but has not entered a plea.

Court documents revealed witnesses to the incident rendered first aid to the alleged victim, who remained unconscious while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

In the documents, one witness reported the man was bleeding from his lip.

Another witness told police they saw the man who allegedly threw the punch then take something from the victim’s pocket while he was unconscious, before leaving the scene in a white ute.

The Kings Beach Tavern said while the incident was being investigated by the police they did not wish to comment.

Mr Warner will appear in the Caloundra Magistrates Court on April 5.

Investigations are ongoing.
