A $3 billion Sunshine Coast community is launching a massive park fitted out with walking and cycling tracks, outdoor gym equipment, soccer fields, and more.

A new four-hectare park will open this weekend in AVID Property Group’s Harmony community in Palmview – designed to encourage active living across the community with one kilometre of pedestrian and cycle circuits, kick and throw lawns with soccer goals and static gym equipment.

The newest Linear Park, the second for the community, promotes an active lifestyle, offering residents a range of innovative exercise and play equipment including elevated play towers, tunnel mounds, bird nest swings, spinners and a slide.

AVID General Manager Queensland Anthony Demiris said the park opening was an important milestone for Harmony and a key part of the developer’s broader master plan.

“We are so pleased to open the newest Linear Park in Harmony’s Serenity neighbourhood, stretching a total of 450m long and bringing four local parks to the community,” Mr Demiris said.

“The new park is equivalent in size to six and a half international football fields and is both the physical and figurative heart of the neighbourhood, with many residents expected to visit it every day to play, exercise and relax.”

Resident and mum of three, Holly Roberts, has lived in Harmony for the past two years and looks forward to attending the park opening with her family.

“We already spend our weekends and school holidays walking or cycling to the local Harmony parks to meet with our neighbours or celebrate birthdays and special occasions, so we are really looking forward to this new park opening,” Ms Roberts said.

“What will be great about this park is the mix of junior play areas for the little kids and more advanced facilities that allow us to bring both our younger and older kids to the same spot, rather than having to travel to different parks.”

Harmony’s newest Linear Park opening event will be a “Family Fit Festival” on Saturday, July 13, from 10am-1pm, featuring fitness classes including yoga, pilates and boot camp, kids’ laser tag, live music, food trucks, juice bikes, roving entertainers and face painting.

AVID has now delivered 31 hectares of green space in Harmony, making great headway on the developers plans to provide more than 130 hectares of open space, or 174 football fields, which is equivalent to 40 per cent of the master planned community.

AVID Property Group’s $3 billion project – Harmony – is strategically located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast and is the largest master planned community underway in the Palmview area.
