Drew Barrymore rumoured to take off from the Sunshine Coast Airport
Excitement was in the air at a South East Queensland airport as US superstar Drew Barrymore took off in a private jet.

Excitement was in the air on the Sunshine Coast as rumours spread at the region’s airport that US superstar Drew Barrymore was taking off this morning.
Two private planes parked on the tarmac before 10am before two black vans, with blacked out windows, drove slowly onto the tarmac after 10am parking close to plane VH-RIU.
A few people could be seen getting belongings out of the van but, sadly for a small group of excited fans, no one got a glimpse of Barrymore.
One woman, dressed in black with a dark-coloured pullover and white sneakers, was seen talking to the vehicle escort before she hopped on the plane.
It was not known how long Barrymore was on the Sunshine Coast or what she was doing in the region.
The plane touched down in Sydney at midday.
The celebrity was seen in a hat, sunglasses and rugged up against the cooler weather in a heavy jacket, and was travelling with her family.
It is understood the group was going to Taronga Zoo after arriving in the New South Wales capital.
The 49-year-old talk show host is currently in Australia as she prepares to deliver her exclusive show An Evening with Drew Barrymore to audiences in Brisbane and Sydney at the weekend.
The shows form part of the Wanderlust True North series and will closely resemble Barrymore’s popular program, The Drew Barrymore Show.
After a Friday night show for Sydney audiences Barrymore is expected to head back to the sunshine state to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on August 3.
Although pilot Quentin Carter had not heard the superstar was in town, he said he admired her work.
“Big fan from way back, ever since E.T,” the 48-year-old said.
“It’s one of the first movies I saw at the cinema.”
Barrymore is known for her roles in the on-screen hits Charlie’s Angels, The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, after her cinematic debut in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial at the age of seven.
The pilot from the Sunshine Coast Aero Club said while they did not often hear about celebrities coming through the airport, “quite a few” did touch down on the Sunshine Coast.
The business tasked with flying the VIP this morning denied any knowledge of the rumour Barrymore was about to get on the plane.
