Pristine beachfront Sunshine Coast land that was the centre of a lengthy legal battle is set to hit the market this year.

One of Australia’s leading privately owned residential land development and building companies, the Dennis Family Corporation, has confirmed it will offer the former Sekisui House land at Yaroomba to market by mid 2024.

Last year, the development family came out on top in a bidding competition for an 18.5ha land parcel at Yaroomba securing the land which was previously owned by Japan-based company Sekisui House for an “undisclosed sum”.

The Dennis Family Corporation unveiled its plans for Yaroomba in October, 2023, with the developer planning to create a residential gated community including detached houses, terrace homes and apartments in line with the existing 2007 Coolum Hyatt development approval.

In a statement, a Dennis Family Corporation spokeswoman confirmed the land will soon go up for sale.

“After a hiatus on site of more than 10 years, the Dennis Family Corporation is excited to start delivering the balance of the Beachside community first approved in 2007,” the spokeswoman said.

“The Beachside community is a premium gated residential estate on the Sunshine Coast and the Dennis Family Corporation will build upon this quality in the expansion of the new precincts under the approved masterplan.

“They will feature detached houses, some terrace homes, and apartments at a later stage, in line with the existing approval over the site and subject to market conditions.

“Dennis Family Corporation forecasts a 2024 mid-year release to market of the first new precinct to expand the existing Beachside gated community.”

The spokeswoman added the central lake at the heart of the development will be a key feature.

“The central lake will be enhanced as part of the development, with landscaped verges added, a pathway and a park between the head of the lake and the northern pathway to the Yaroomba Meeting Place,” she said.

Meanwhile, a community group that fundraised money and spent almost a decade fighting Sekisui House’s $900m plans for a five-star hotel and housing development is at a point of acceptance regarding the Dennis Family Corporation’s plans.

Development Watch President Lyn Saxton said the group has “accepted” the development that the Dennis Family Corporation is proceeding with.

“We’re fine with it, we’ve accepted the development, it’s an approved development from 2007,” Ms Saxton said.

“It’s a much better outcome for the turtles, it’s a better outcome for local traffic, and it’s a better outcome as far as the height goes.

“We met with the Dennis Family Corporation last week, they were very communicative, very nice, and we look forward to working alongside them.”
