A NAPLAN results comparison has revealed which Sunshine Coast and Noosa public schools are achieving consistently high results and which schools have made big result improvements over the years.

Some public schools made huge leaps in 2022 according to primary school NAPLAN data when compared with their five-year average rankings between 2017 and 2021, while others saw their ranking slide.

The top performing public schools in 2022 according to NAPLAN data were Mooloolaba State School, Montville State School and Buderim Mountain State School.

Notable schools that saw big improvements were Montville State School, which was the eighth-best performing school in the Sunshine Coast in 2022 compared to their five-year average ranking of 34th between 2017 and 2021.

The improvements in Montville State School’s results put them ahead of regional private school heavyweight Sunshine Coast Grammar School, which came in 10th place.

Cooran State School also landed in the top five public schools for 2022 primary NAPLAN results, placing them in 17th place out of all Sunshine Coast schools despite their previous five-year average ranking them 43rd.

Consistently high achieving public schools include Sunshine Beach State School, which appears in the top five rankings of public schools for both 2022 data and the five-year average.

Buderim Mountain State School also made it into the top five for 2022 and the five-year average, along with Mooloolaba State School.

Public schools who performed worse in 2022 compared with their five-year average ranking included Chancellor State College, which was the fourth-best performing public school and 11th best out of all Sunshine Coast schools according to five-year average data.

However, 2022 data places the school in the 34th spot for primary NAPLAN results out of all Sunshine Coast schools.

Glenview State School did not perform as well as their average ranking 2022, falling to 38th place out of all Sunshine Coast and Noosa schools.

They previously ranked 13th out of all schools in the region according to five-year average data.
