A new child care centre, designed to accommodate more than 200 children, has been pitched for a fast-growing Sunshine Coast suburb.
The development application, commissioned by developer and landowner LCA Palmview Pty Ltd, was submitted to the Sunshine Coast Council late last week.
Plans for the large-scale child care centre at Peter Crosby Way in Palmview show the facility would accommodate a total of 250 children and 41 staff members, if approved.
The planning report stated the child care centre, which would trade as Harmony ELC Palmview, would be in an ideal position to service families living in the fast-growing Sunshine Coast suburbs of Sippy Downs and Chancellor Park.
The centre, which would not exceed 13.5m in height, would also include 77 car spaces and operate from 6.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday, according to the planning report.
“The overall built form comprises a single storey construction and incorporates high quality modern building character elements reflective and consistent with the emerging the surrounding locality,” the planning report stated.
A total of 1,751 sqm will be dedicated to outdoor play space, along with 15 large activity rooms indoors to cater for children aged zero to five.
Property data shows the developer, LCA Palmview Pty Ltd, owns more than 200ha of land in Palmview.
According to the planning report, the child care centre would be built on existing grassland, mostly used in the past for farming.
“The subject area is predominantly open grassland which has been cleared to accommodate historical and ongoing farming and rural activities,” the planning report stated.
