Bruce Highway turned into a carpark after crash

A crash between a motorcycle and a car has caused traffic chaos on the Bruce Highway on the Sunshine Coast.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes of the Bruce Highway at Beerburrum just before 1pm, according to a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman.

Paramedics on the scene assessed the motorcyclist – a male in his 40s – for a significant foot injury.

The crash blocked both southbound lanes causing traffic to quickly bank up on the highway.

Motorists returning to Brisbane were caught in a five kilometre long carpark as emergency workers treated the injured motorcyclist.

The rider appeared to be travelling in a group with others on the side of the highway watching on as paramedics worked on him on a stretcher before he was put into the ambulance.
