The heartbroken family of a young woman who died at a popular Sunshine Coast mountain has described her as a joyful adventurer with a big heart.

Currimundi woman Breanna Foley, 28, tragically died on Saturday, March 25, after she fell 40m from Mt Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains while hiking.

It was later revealed Ms Foley, who was a recreational mountain climber, had played a key role in helping save a seriously injured parachutist – including providing first aid – only hours before her own death.

Her family told the Sunshine Coast Daily in a statement on March 30 they were incredibly proud and unsurprised by her heroics that day.

“Breanna actively sought to help others in any way she could,” they said.

“She lived her life with the heartfelt belief that her purpose was to serve others and bring glory to God.

“We are incredibly proud of Breanna.”

They described her as a “kind, humble, and joyful person” who was a devout follower of Jesus and loved spending time with friends and family.

“We are incredibly saddened that our time with her was so short,” they said.

“However, we are comforted by the peace and assurance that can only come from knowing she loved and followed Jesus and has gone to heaven, where we can one day join her.”

Ms Foley was raised in Brisbane but moved to the Sunshine Coast two years ago where she worked as an occupational therapist.

She loved adventures, from running trail and park runs to competing in road and dirt triathlons.

Her family said it would have been Ms Foley’s hope for fellow grievers to look to God and the Bible for comfort and guidance.

They encouraged people to donate to Compassion Australia, a charity Ms Foley supported and loved, as a way to honour her.

The family have requested privacy for themselves and Ms Foley’s friends, and asked details of her memorial not to be published.
