Australia Zoo’s $2 tickets were snapped up in 12 minutes to the hands of 200 lucky people.

The deal was part of Tourism and Events Queensland's ‘20 Days of Holidays Like This’ campaign giving holiday-makers a chance to win different experiences until 26 September.

The goal of the campaign was to entice Queenslanders to holiday at home.

TEQ’s chief executive Leanne Coddington said more was yet to come.

“By offering these staggering deals, we have created huge excitement about booking a Queensland holiday experience,” she said.

“For those who miss out, there are hundreds of other great deals available at Queensland.com that we are seeing strong interest in and we’ve generated more than 80,000 leads to tourism businesses around the state as a result.”

Tourism and Events Queensland next deal is an all-inclusive, four-day sailing adventure on your own yacht with Wings Sailing Charters of the Whitsundays.

Ms Coddington said the feedback from the initiative had been well received.

“We’ve provided a compelling reason to prompt people into booking something they previously may have only dreamt of, or didn’t know existed at all,” she said.

“We’re very pleased with the results so far, with thousands of people visiting our website daily trying to secure great Queensland experiences.

“We continue to use creative and innovative campaigns to encourage Queenslanders to travel around their home state.”

This comes after 100 Village Roadshow Locals One Passes for $3 each sold out in minutes on Tuesday morning.
