ANNASTACIA Palaszczuk has penned letters to voters in Tim Nicholls’ seat as Labor ramps up its campaign to directly link the LNP leader with One Nation ahead of the polling day.
In letters being mailed out to voters in Clayfield this week, Ms Palaszczuk urges the electorate to choose her candidate Philip Anthony over Mr Nicholls due to his stance.
“It’s now clear that the only way Tim Nicholls can form government is with the support of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation,” Ms Palaszczuk’s letter states. “Our economy cannot afford the chaos and drama of a Nicholls LNP-One Nation government.”
A Labor spokesman said that the party wanted to point out to voters in the seat Mr Nicholls wrested from Labor in 2006 that he was out of touch with them over his stance with One Nation.
Mr Nicholls, who holds the seat with a margin of about 6.6 per cent, has indicated he would accept “the will of the people” and would work with the crossbench to form government, whether it be One Nation or Katter’s Australian Party.
The LNP is preferencing One Nation higher than Labor in about 49 seats across the state. The letter, which is a version of one being mailed to hundreds of thousands of voters across the state this week, will not be the only tool used by Labor to link Mr Nicholls to One Nation.
“The final week of the campaign will see Mr Nicholls put under extreme pressure by Labor, with large mailouts, digital advertisements and direct-voter-contact efforts,” a Labor spokesman said.
