It was a fierce competition for the title of Stanthorpe’s cutest baby, but the final results are in and one adorable little one has been awarded the crown.
Six-month-old Jaxson Brian Wilmot has been named Stanthorpe’s cutest baby for 2021, with his mum Natalie Wilmot telling the Border Post she is one “pretty proud mummy”.
“He’s a very bright and happy baby. He smiles a lot, he’s a happy little vegemite.” she said.
“I'm just a proud mum, I love that he’s with me in my life, he brings me great joy and I can’t stop looking at him.”
Natalie said her son’s best mate is their three-year-old Blue Staffy called Maximus.
“They get on really well. When Jaxson is asleep in the cot, Maximus sleeps at the end of the cot,” she said.
“The hope has always been that those two grow up together and he learns to look after him.”
The two are so close, parents Natalie and Jason think Jaxson’s first word will be Maximus.
Natalie said Jaxson absolutely loves nature and one of his favourite current activities is looking at trees and flowers.
“He likes touching everything, everything's new and he’ll watch the bees, he’s that alert that he loves to watch the bees and birds fly,” she said.
“He’s like wow, just so mesmerised by it.”
For proud grandmother (mema) Debbie Wilmot, there was no disputing her grandson was the cutest in town.
“He’s just a delight. He’s very full-on and just moving around, quite advanced for his age,” she said.
Debbie said her grandson was a “chip off the old block”, taking after his father and her son Jason in looks and mannerisms including his smile, eyes and cheekiness.
Her fondest memory was meeting her grandson for the first time and finding out his name, as it was a nod to his father Jason and grandfather Brian.
“He was actually born on his great grandfather's birthday, Peter Wilmot and even though he’s passed away he’ll have that special connection to him, that date will always been remembered,” she said.
“I just love there watching him grow, some days you have to pinch yourself to believe he’s here,” she said.
