Runnymede house fire: Family of seven left homeless after house raised by fire

There has been a heartwarming show of camaraderie for a Burnett family of seven who lost their home and all their possessions in a devastating fire that also killed their beloved pets.

The Burnett community is rallying in support of a family of seven left homeless by a devastating fire.

The Attard family were left without a home and all their possessions after their timber home burnet to the ground north of Nanango.

Sue and Jeff Attard, along with their children Chloe, Steven, Mia, Ryan and Charlie have devastatingly lost everything and now have nowhere to live.

Family friend and neighbour Trinity Stockdale set up a GoFundMe for the family, which has attracted more than $600 in donations.

Offers of clothing and furniture donations have also flooded in on social media.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so here.

Tragically, the family also lost their eight-week-old puppy Narla and 10-week-old kitten Oscar in the blaze.

Ms Stockdale is also currently helping the family look for accommodation.

“As you can imagine in a rental crisis it’s really difficult,” she said.

Fire crews were called to the Runnymede property late on Wednesday evening, June 1, with the first crews arriving at 6.50pm.

A total of seven crews battled to bring the fire under control, with the timber structure on Scotts Lane well alight by the time they arrived.

Fortunately nobody was inside at the time and the Queensland Ambulance service confirmed no patients required treatment at the scene.

Despite the number of crews on scene, it took until 7.30pm for the fire to be brought under control, with firefighters remaining on scene dampening down and monitoring hot spots for more than an hour afterwards.

Photos from the scene shows the utter destruction wrought by the blaze.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman confirmed the cause of the fire was yet to be determined, and a fire investigator was schedule to return to the scene on Thursday.
