A South Burnett man has tragically died after what is the latest in a spate of devastating quad bike crashes recorded across the state.

Emergency crews were called to the private property at Wengenville just after 6pm Wednesday.

The man, reportedly aged in his 40s, was assessed by paramedics for critical injuries but tragically succumbed to his injuries, a Queensland Police spokeswoman said.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

The death is one of many quad bike crashes that have resulted in death or serious injury in recent months.

The deaths include 6-year-old Charlotte Bowden who was killed when the small quad bike she was riding on a private property crashed into the Maroochy River on September 23 and 14-year-old Mitchell Norris who died following an ATV rollover on a private property at Bungundarra on the Capricorn Coast in August.

Allan ‘Kiwi’ Andrew, 59, died following a quad bike rollover at ‘The Old Station’ in Raglan in October, and Home Hill farewelled a 20-year-old man after he suffered the same fate less than one month later.

Police discovered the body of a 40-year-old man on a private property near Marlborough after a quad bike crash in June.

Between 2011 and 2019, 136 Australians lost their lives in Quad bike accidents, with around 15 per cent of these deaths involving children.

As of November 11, there have been 10 quad bike fatalities in Australia in 2021, with four of those in Queensland.

All deaths involved rollovers.

Announcing new safety rules last month, ACCC Deputy Chair Mick Keogh said quad bike accidents were the leading cause of death and injury on Australian farms.

He said mandatory safety standards would be critical in saving lives.

“Although 16 per cent of quad bikes inspected, or roughly one in six, were not compliant with the safety standard, suppliers have so far co-operated with our investigations and taken steps to fix problems, including recalling non-compliant bikes where necessary,” Mr Keogh said.

“Enforcing the quad bike safety standard is an ACCC priority this year and all quad bike suppliers should be aware that we will be keeping a very close eye on their compliance.”

Mr Keogh said the ACCC would be conducting national surveillance and cracking down on anyone supplying non-compliant quad bikes.
