A Ballogie man convicted of raping a 17-year-old girl and groping a 12-year-old has fronted court yet again, after failing to report contact with children.

Joshua Mark Skvaridlo is a child sex offender with mandatory reporting conditions, stemming from two convictions in the past decade.

Skvaridlo faced Kingaroy District Court in 2014 on charges of indecent treatment of a child, where he was sentenced to a 12-month jail suspended sentence and 18 months’ probation for sexually groping a 12-year-old.

In 2018, Skvaridlo was sentenced to five years’ jail, which was suspended after he served 20 months, for the rape of a 17-year-old girl.

He remains on a suspended sentence for the 2018 matter.

Despite being subject to reporting conditions for a significant number of years, and having been previously convicted for failing to report, Skvaridlo continues to flout his reporting obligations.

The 36-year-old faced Murgon Magistrates Court on Tuesday, charged with four counts of counts of failing to comply with reporting obligations.

The charge relates to his failing to report three instances of contact with children between April 2021 and January 2022, and that he also failed to inform police of stays at his girlfriend’s address.

Police prosecutor Lisa Manns told the court that during investigations into the matter, Skvaridlo changed his version of events multiple times.

Sergeant Manns said he was brought undone when his “off-again, on-again” girlfriend spoke to police.

Lawyer Mark Werner told the court nothing “sinister” was alleged in regard to the contact, and submitted a period of probation would assist his client.

He also noted Skvaridlo would need to be recommitted to the District Court for breaching his suspended sentence.

“He won't be getting a lot of sympathy there,” Mr Werner said.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair disagreed probation was appropriate.

“How much hand holding does he need?” he said.

Skvaridlo was sentenced to three months’ jail, but was released on immediate parole.

He was also ordered to appear in Kingaroy District Court for re-sentencing on his initial charges.
