A 42-year-old Kingaroy man who was left with life threatening injuries after being stabbed in an allegedly random night time attack at his home has been released from hospital.
The man was flown to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition after he was stabbed in the neck shortly after midnight on Saturday, February 17.
Police said 11 days after the attack, on February 28, investigations were continuing and efforts to locate the person responsible ongoing.
The victim sustained a laceration to his neck just after midnight on Saturday night, February 17, metres from a Hungry Jacks restaurant in the heart of the South Burnett town.
He was treated by paramedics at the house before being taken by ambulance to Kingaroy Hospital with critical injuries, and then airlifted to Brisbane.
Police established an investigation headquarters in Alford St the following day, after searching the surrounding area and nearby parkland well into the early hours of the morning.
The house was reportedly known to police.
They have appealed to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around the time of the incident, or may have relevant dash cam or CCTV footage, to come forward.
Police believe the attack was random and that the victim did not know his assailant, who fled the scene before emergency services arrived.
In the wake of the attack LNP Nanango MP Deb Frecklington has called for the Qld police minister’s resignation as the manhunt continues in her electorate for the person or people involved in the random stabbing of a man in his Kingaroy home.
Ms Frecklington said the incident was “a highly distressing situation for the people of Kingaroy”, and she was concerned for the welfare of the victim.
“My thoughts are with the victim and their family,” she said.
“This is a highly distressing case that has happened in our backyard.”
Ms Frecklington said the alleged random assault of a person in their own home was indicative of a trend where offenders were becoming increasingly emboldened.
“Offenders are getting more and more brazen, and at the end of the day these are people who are just going about their business in their own backyard, who are facing the realities of the crime crisis,” she said.
“It’s really sad and distressing, and I hope that the offender is found immediately.”
Speaking amidst the fallout of police commissioner Katarina Carroll’s resignation, Ms Frecklington called for Police Minister Mark Ryan to take responsibility for the escalating crime across the state.

“The former police commissioner has made her decision, but the buck stops with the police minister,” she said.
“I believe the police minister should go out the door as well; it’s time for him to give up his job.
“He’s been the police minister that has presided over this youth crime crisis for almost a decade, it’s time for him to go.”
