My Wellness Bar owner Belinda Lewis left ‘shocked’ at brazen theft

The owner of a pilates studio and coffee bar has been shocked by the not-so-healthy habits of some in her country Queensland town where her small business has been hit by a second bizarre robbery. VIDEO.

Belinda Lewis opened her Kingaroy health and wellness facility and takeaway coffee bar less than 12 months ago after returning to the South Burnett following a lengthy time away.

While she and her family love serving and being a part of the community, they have been disappointed by recent thefts from their business - the most brazen of which has been caught on camera.

My Wellness Bar in Kingaroy is a reformer Pilates studio and offers holistic health and wellness coaching.

“We also offer infra-red sauna and our coffee bar serves herbal tea and delicious coffee,” Ms Lewis said.

“We’re a takeaway, it’s a little hole in the wall and people just come and grab their coffee and keep going on with their day.”

However, the 46-year-old said she was “shocked” to find out she had property stolen outside of her shopfront on Tuesday for the second time in two months.

She said her daughters were the first to notice their small bench and shoe rack were both missing when they arrived early to open up the coffee bar.

“I was bringing the bench in every night, and I guess I just decided that I would trust the community and it got taken,” Ms Lewis said.

“Because we’ve only been there a short time, some local businesses mentioned we were pretty lucky to not have that stolen … we were being very trusting in their opinion because they had obviously had things taken in the past as well.

“It’s been left out now for a couple of months … they did warn me, but I was very trusting,” she said.

After reviewing the CCTV footage on the security cameras, installed by the building's owner, she was shocked at what she saw.

The video, with a timestamp of 2.52am on February 13, 2024, showed a male dressed in a T-shirt, shorts and hat approach the front of the shop on the corner of Mary and King St where the two items were placed.

He briefly looked around to his left, picked up the shoe rack with his left hand, the small bench with his right hand and walked off.

“I was very shocked,” Ms Lewis said.

“We did have some tables set up outside with fake grass and little planter boxes and we left the grass out one night and that was taken as well.

“We packed our tables away and left that there for the next morning and the next morning it wasn’t there.”

Ms Lewis said she hasn’t decided if she would report the latest theft to police but was considering it.

“We’re there for the community and it’s a bit shocking that that’s how you get treated.”

The business owner won’t be leaving anything outside going forward.

“We will be dragging it all in every day,” she said.
